Don’t really get fanfiction. Don’t like it, as far as I know.
Once upon a more current time, there lived a beautiful young lady, with skin as white as snow: Snow White, the wonderous, most charming girl in Ellewood. Word of her fairness had even long since traveled to the farthest of destinations. Anyone who was anyone were either pleased to know Snow, or eager to meet her.
In the midst of Ellewood, however, lived an ugly, angry lady named Malisafent. She was utterly jealous of Snow White and how other adored her and her beauty. She became so obsessed with ridding Ellewood of Snow, that she became good friends with Snow’s parents, and even offered to become their housekeeper for free, but her intentions couldn’t be further from honorable.
Every day Snow White was at school, Malisafent would raid her room, plant things to try to get her in trouble, destroy schoolwork, and read her journals to find clever ways to upset her. One day she read that Snow White’s favorite food was apple pie, and how she loved to go apple-picking on the edge of town with her friends for only the freshest apples. Malisafent then had an idea. She was going to poison an apple and offer it to Snow White.
That night, the White family had insisted that Malisafent had overworked herself for the day and should stay for supper. Snow was starting to feel uncomfortable having Malisafent around, especially after all the mishaps that were happening since she was hired by her parents. Though suspicious, Snow tried to see the good in everybody, so she joined her parents in welcoming her to the dinner table. Malisafent smiled, fooling her parents with her hidden intent. To make things worse, Malisafent got an even better idea that night. She asked the Whites consistently for more helpings of food, until they were stuck in the kitchen, leaving her and Snow White alone.
Malisafent saw her window of opportunity, took a knife from the table and attacked Snow White. Snow screamed and ran for her life, with no time to look back. The Whites came out of the kitchen immidiately, but their daughter was already gone. They caught Malisafent red-handed with the knife still in her hand, and as Mr. White wrestled her to the ground, Mrs. White called the police. Malisafent fought back, and as Mr. White took the knife from her hand, she gathered the strength to get up and run out the door before the authorities got there.
Snow White had managed to get away, but she had nowhere to go. She was afraid Malisafent had hurt or even killed her parents, and was still looking for her. She knew whatever she did, she couldn’t turn back. While walking through the woods, far outside of Ellewood at this point, she came across a country house. As she approached the house, she anxiously thought of what she should say. She knocked on the door and when a handsome man answered, she nearly choked on her words.
“May I help you?” asked the tall, dark-haired man.
“I…uh…umm…” babbled Snow. The man gazed at Snow with an inquiring look on his face, and after a short pause, she found her words. “I need help.”
Ater hastily explaining the situation, the man let her inside, where she found six other men sitting in a large living room, watching TV. They weren’t far from gorgeous either. As they all welcomed Snow White and sympathized with what had happened to her, they handed her a blanket and a hot cup of tea, told her to make herself comfortable, and introduced themselves: Sleepy, Sneezy, Happy, Bashful, Grumpy, and Dopey. Each man’s name had also come with a personality to match it. She then turned and looked at the man who had invited her in.
“And what is your name?” she asked in most curiosity.
“I’m Doc,” he replied. The look in his eyes was almost enchanting.
“Doc,” she confirmed, with a smile on her face.
Snow White then took a sip from her tea, and noticed all the men were suddenly staring at her in query. “And you are…” asked Doc.
“Oh how rude of me!” she realized. “I’m Snow White. I aplogize, it has been such a long night.”
“Snow White,” Doc confirmed, this time smiling at her. “Well, Snow, you may sleep in my bed tonight. I can take the couch. You really need to catch up on some sleep. We will catch up more at breakfast in the morning.”
Snow White awoke the next morning, thinking that the night before was all a dream, until she looked around and saw that she was in what nowhere nearly resembled her room. The sunlight beamed through the window as she squinted and stretched, ready to get up. She put her jacket on and made her way to the living room, which was empty. She then heard the voices of the men, and followed the sound to the kitchen, where breakfast was being served.
“Good morning!” shouted Doc from the stove, where he was flipping eggs onto a plate. “Take a seat!” As she sat down, he brought the plate over to her. “I hope you like eggs and bacon.”
“I love anything at this point,” she said, thinking that the one thing she might really love could be him. Doc finished making his plate and sat down with his room mates and Snow White at the table.
Bashful looked over to Snow White and blushed. “You’re s-ss-so pretty,” he said. “And you are welcome t-tt-to have whatever you’d like here.”
“He’s right,” Doc added. “Anything you need during your stay, just ask.”
“That’s ridiculous!” shouted Grumpy. “She just walks in here and all the sudden she’s queen! I tell ya, you should have turned her to the streets! She has no business here. And what if that evil bitch comes looking for her!? I tell ya what, it won’t be me who gets killed for this girl!”
“Grumpy, calm down,” added Doc. “No one is going to find her here, and she’s welcome here, so make her feel welcome.”
Grumpy sighed in disagreement, as Sneezy sneezed, breaking the silence. “Is there anyone else who doesn’t want Snow here?” Doc asked the others. “Or do you believe she’s safer here and we can handle this like men?”
Happy smiled big and nodded. Bashful nodded as well, cheeks still rosy red. Sleepy was nearly falling asleep on his breakfast, but woke up in time to concede, and Sneezy sneezed out a very loud “yes!” Dopey, who was usually in his own world, agreed by jumping out of his seat and hugging Snow.
“Well, Grumpy?” Doc and the others looked over.
“Whatever!” he shouted. “I just don’t want her anywhere near my things! And she better help out around the house! This isn’t the Red Carpet Inn, ya know!”
Over the next week, Snow White cooked for the men while they were at work, and made the house cleaner than it was when she first got there. One day, Doc returned home before the rest of the boys. Snow was in the middle of doing laundry, when the sight of Doc shocked her.
“What are you doing back so early?” she asked.
“The boys are fine,” he started. “I wanted to make sure you were okay. It makes me nervous sometimes that you are here by yourself and that lady might come for you.”
“That’s so nice,” she said. She dropped the clothes basket and looked at him, wishing he wasn’t so beautiful. “So, uh…how do you all know each other anyway? I mean…I never asked why you all live together.”
“We all went to college together. We were actually all in the same fraternity. We even studied the same line of work. Dopey never really did well, of course,” he laughed. Then we thought about how much money we could save if we just bought a big house and all went in on the bills and food and stuff. And this place is perfect, and quiet. Could you imagine Grumpy being woken up by city noise? I’ve seen it, and it’s not pretty,” he laughed again.
“Yeah, why are you friends with Grumpy?” asked Snow White.
“Known him so long, longer than the others, actually. It’s kind of a gotta-stay-friends-because-you just-always-have-to kind of thing.”
“And how come all of you are single?”
“There’s no one answer for that. We’ve all been through relationships, but nothing ever got serious. Besides, Grumpy isn’t really a girl-magnet. If I didn’t know your situation, I would wonder why you’d even want to stick around!”
Snow White looked at him again and he looked back. His smile was so nice and all she could do was stare. She was out of conversation starters, and it began to get awkward. She then turned back to the laundry basket and continued her work.
Meanwhile, in another forest outside of Ellewood, Malisafent was hiding out in a small cottage, hiding from authorities and still plotting Snow White’s demise. She studied witchcraft, and after a few weeks, it was time to put her skills to work. She performed a spell to change her identity into an old, innocent-looking woman. She now knew that she could be seen without being arrested, and planned to trick Snow into eating a poison apple, as she first planned. “With this apple, Snow White will be no more. She will sleep forever, until she is finally dead!” she cackled. “Then I will change my appearance once more to a young beautiful woman, and I will be the fairest in Ellewood! Hahahaa!” She gazed into a crystal ball, reciting a spell to reveal Snow’s location. As she looked closer, she saw Snow White and seven men dancing in a large house on the other side of Ellewood.
It was Dopey’s birthday, and party they did. Snow White had arranged the food and put up the decorations, just to surprise the boys when they got home from work. They were extremely delighted, especially Dopey. Grumpy wasn’t too thrilled, however. He sat in a corner most of the night, humphing and rolling his eyes at the others dancing. Snow White then went over to Grumpy and asked him to dance.
“Ha! You must be kidding,” he said, turning his head away.
“Come on, Grumpy!” Snow asked again. She grabbed his hands and brought him up out of his chair to celebrate with the others.
Grumpy resisted for a short while longer, until he finally cracked a smile. “Whatever,” he said. “But don’t be thinkin’ you’re gonna get me dance again after this…and you better not surprise me for my birthday either!”
“Whatever, Grumpy!” shouted Snow, as she dragged him on the floor and danced with him. even though he tried to resist, in that moment, Snow White seemed to have broken him out of his shell. No one had expected it, especially Doc, who looked over at them dancing, and smiled.
After the party died down, and everyone went to bed, Snow White stayed awake to clean up. Doc was on the couch watching TV, and asked Snow White to take a break and join him. She accepted the offer and sat beside him.
“That was incredible,” he said to her.
“Getting Grumpy to dance at the party. Just getting him to have a fun time! No one can do that. Do you know how many times I’ve tried to get him to even smile?”
Snow smiled and blushed. “I wanted to try and found no harm in it. I’m glad I could help.”
“You are special.”
“Oh stop; now you’re really making me blush!”
“Seriously…” He looked at her and she tried not to look back. She was afraid that if she did she would kiss him. His charm took over though, and she couldn’t hold back any longer.
He stared into her eyes and she couldn’t help but stare back into his. They leaned in, and right in that second, Dopey opened his bedroom door, coming out for a glass of water and to thank Snow White again for all she’s done for his birthday party.
“You’re very welcome!” she shouted from across the room. She leaned back into her seat and repeated to herself, “very welcome…”
“I guess we should be getting to bed, huh?” Doc whispered.
“Yeah…yeah you’re right,” she sighed in disappointment. She might have succeeded in party-planning, but she felt as if she failed in winning Doc’s affection.
The next morning, she figured the best way to apologize for any discomfort she might have laid on Doc was to bake him an apple pie and attach a note to it, letting him know she was ready to leave. She then realized they were out of apples, and just as she got ready to get fresh ones, there was a knock on the door. She wondered who it could possibly be and looked out the window to see. It was a nice-looking old woman with a basket full of apples. How coincidental, she thought. She opened the door, assuming that the woman was just the grandmother of one of the boys.
“Hello there,” she greeted the old woman with a bit of objection. “What…what can I do for you?”
She had a charming smile and seemed almost impeccable. “Oh my dear, would you be a doll and help me? I have these apples, you see, and I’m selling them to make money to keep my cottage on the other side of the forest. If I do not make enough money, my house will be bulldozed to the ground or sold to a much younger person who can work to afford it. It is so stressful sometimes to be an old woman, especially when all you have are fresh-picked apples to offer.” Snow White felt pity for the woman. Though a little loopy, she seemed so nice and well-mannered, and Snow White wanted to help. She was displeased to have to let the lady know that she didn’t have any money. “Oh my,” the woman began. “I’m sorry to have bothered you. Please, take an apple anyway. I insist. You are so kind for even answering your door.”
“Oh, I couldn’t,” said Snow.
“Please, dear. They are delicious…picked fresh from the best area in the forest. I have plenty more at home, and I want to watch you enjoy how tasty they are. It would certainly make my afternoon.”
Snow White took an apple, figuring if it really pleased the lady to do so, she would eat it. As she took a bite and swallowed it, she felt a knot in her stomach as she dropped to the floor gagging. The woman started cackling as Snow White struggled to breathe, and It became clear to Snow whose voice it was. Her eyes closed and the apple rolled out of her hand, and Malisafent then disappeared.
When the boys came back from work, they gasped as they tried to help Snow off the floor to revive her. Doc shouted at the others to keep trying to wake her up, and ran to the kitchen for the phone. In the kitchen, he found a note that read:
Thank you for all your hospitality,
and please thank the others for me,
I will never forget you,
and I will always wonder,
if your kiss is sweeter than apple pie.
I’m ready to go now.
Please keep me in your heart.
Doc nearly cried as he grabbed the phone to dial the police. They were on their way, but it would take a little while. Doc went back over to Snow and held her head, staring at her gentle face with the greatest passion he’s ever known. The boys were crying around them, even Grumpy. Doc then whispered, “I love you,” as he leaned in and kissed her still-warm lips. He closed his eyes tight, yet tears still came out. “The only thing sweeter than apple pie was you…”
All the sudden, Snow White batted her eyelashes, opening her eyes, and started to mumble. The boys all opened their eyes and glanced at her in disbelief, and Doc cried louder, hugging her and not letting go. “Wha…what happened?” she asked.
“Love saved you,” said Doc. “And you saved me.” He then leaned in once last time to kiss Snow White, as she embraced his lips and kissed him back.
When the police arrived, they were pleased that Snow White was finally found and still alive. They reported back to her parents, and they thanked Doc and the other for taking care of her. Malisafent was found and went to prison for life. As for Doc and Snow White, they lived happily ever after, sharing their lives with each other for many, many more apple pies to come.

It’s the almost the same as having a favorite song and difficult to amswer: What is my favorite movie? Come on now…how many movies are out there? A more accurate question would be, how many countless movies have I seen?! I wonder how long it would take to make a list of everything I’ve seen and favored. Even that list would be impossible to narrow down. As the last post, there is no one favorite.
Out of curiosity to the very few followers that I have so far, have you completed a 30-day question challenge before?
I’m trying to become a Tumblr hobbyist. It sounds kind of dumb in my head…hobbyist, hobbyism…are these even real words? The bottom line is now that I’m here, I’d like to embrace writing and use this as a free-time hobby. I want to be constructive, entertaining, and more importantly, I want to use this tool to further find and better myself. Writing used to be such a great passion of mine, and now, maybe it’s time to revive this wonderful hobby. And hey, if I stick to it, maybe I’ll get good at it like I once was.
